What's up with My Elegoo Neptune 4 Max

August 17, 2026

I have been installing the 8-color Co-Print kit on my N4M for the past week or so (in between writing this software). I can't wait to get it to the point I can use it again. I have a real love-hate relationship with this printer. Out of the box, nothing worked - I couldn't get it to level properly; when I would finally get it sort of level, it would die mid-print because the leveling shifted (I don't know how many Fat Buddas I threw away). I finally decided to install the TBSTron3D linear rail kit on the x- and y-axes, a MicroSwiss hotend and nozzle, and a new extruder (compliments of Elegoo).

After those changes, it turned into a beast. After a few smaller prints, I decided to print one that took up most of the bed and 79 hours - it was flawless. I then printed out a large wicker-style basket using Amolen's Fossil PLA. What a great filament it is - looks so, much like wicker, it should be named Wicker PLA.

At any rate, I will keep you informed about my best in the coming days. I am going to use it for printing lithophanes, portaits, and medallions, thus minimizing the poop. Will let you know how it goes.
